Riding horses with my brothers and sister through the Cook County Forest Preserves near our home as a kid, I never gave them a second thought. They were just there providing a great place not only for riding, but also for hiking and fishing as well. I’m sorry to admit, until I saw Suzanne Simard’s June 2016 TED talk How trees talk to each other I still had no idea of the amazing story of life that takes place right there under our feet. Simard is a Canadian ecologist who has study forests for 30 years. Thanks for a great meditation Suzanne.

We are a community of laymen and laywomen who, with vowed Passionists, seek to share in the charism of St. Paul of the Cross through prayer, ongoing spiritual formation, and proclamation of the message of Christ Crucified.
This is so cool.
