This Sunday’s second scripture selection reveals the answer to a very important question, “…how we shall know that we belong to the truth…(1 JN 3:19) Those who keep Jesus’ commandments remain in Jesus and Jesus in them. So what are Jesus’ commandments?
And his commandment is this:
we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ,
and love one another just as he commanded us. (1 JN 3:23)
Jesus commands us to love as he has taught, i.e. as related in the Gospels: do not judge; forgive always’ pray for your enemies, love your neighbors as yourself; pick up your cross daily and follow me; seek and find, ask and it will be given, knock and the door will open; don’t worry about your place in line; Bloom where you are; whether your first of last does not matter. These are Jesus’ commandments. Do these things and you will live.
We are a community of laymen and laywomen who, with vowed Passionists, seek to share in the charism of St. Paul of the Cross through prayer, ongoing spiritual formation, and proclamation of the message of Christ Crucified.
“Bloom where you are..” I love that. Thanks for a very inspiring post.
As always, another beautiful post. Words we should ALL live by …..
